Sorry, I'm a Slacker, my baby turned 2.

Sorry, I've been so busy with Mackenna's 2nd Birthday plans, getting everything ready and my house ready.
The list goes on....
I'm sure all you mommies out there know how it can be when you are trying to plan the best birthday party.

R.I.P my desktop computer, after only 18 months the motherboard goes out.. Perfect... :( I have a love and hate relationship with technology.

My Dad arrives into town tomorrow morning... If you've been following Fat Friday's, I will be sharing the winner
this Friday. I think I have my dad beat, but stay tunned for the results.

Sunday, Was Mackenna's actual Birthday, but party day is this Saturday. I can't wait.
Still so much to do.

How was your weekend?

And here is a picture of the Birthday girl from Sunday.

Twitter.. Smacked me in the face.

Sometimes I live blindly in my life and forget that sometimes we live in cruel world. I've really enjoyed blogging since I started a couple of months ago and I've met so many awesome and amazing woman/mother's out there. I started a twitter account a little bit ago to what all the hype was about, because I didn't really see the point having a Facebook in all. Let me give you my story why I've lost faith in people for a brief moment yesterday and how this world can very cruel to you because of what you believe in and what you think is right.

{Twitter}

Yesterday, someone tweeted about when to start real milk and transitioning from formula. I tweeted a reply and stated that I see a homeopathic doctor for my daughter and she told me that I could start milk anytime I wanted and to ease it in slowly and see how she likes it.

That's all I said to this person...

Don't worry it wasn't her that said anything to me. Then I got a reply to that tweet to me saying: if you take your daughter to a homeopathic Doctor, that must mean you haven't vaccinated. Right?

I though for minute, maybe she is just curious. I replied back and stated, that no at this time I haven't vaccinated my child. She then came back to me and said well I hope you child doesn't die based on your irresponsibilities as a parent and good luck.

I was shocked, my blood was boiling inside me. I would never judge another
person based on their decisions as a parent. How can someone say something so cruel and nasty to another. I've never even met this person she tweeted me out of nowhere. I finally got the courage and asked if she had children. To my surprise, she told me no. I told her that I think it's best to leave me alone because I'm an actual parent and making the best decision I can for my daughter. I also, told her that her opinions could change once she had a living, breathing thing to care for.

I was so heated, I left and went on a walk and came back to another tweet from someone else that I've
never spoke to before joining in on the conversation.

This was her tweet to me:
I wonder if antivax is genetic? Cause when your kids die of a preventable disease, at least the gene will be out of the pool.

I looked up this person's profile and she happened to be only 15 years old.
By this point I was done and logged off twitter for most of the day.

I'm not the mom of the year, and I'm not perfect by any means. However, I don't think anything is worse then being challenged on what you think is right as a parent to your own child. I'm already feeling a little better after sharing this with you, but still can't believe what happened yesterday.

Thankful for the followers I do have and your great comments.

Intervention with our Money

When you have two incomes and you are used to living a certain way you go through the everyday motions of spending and playing and then whoa, you actually look at a credit card statement, or in my case a few and realize that your spending habits are scary on paper. Not only was I looking at credit card statements, but our bank statements as well. I won't go into any more detail because I don't want you to get as scared and anxious as I was.

{Why do we spend unnecessarily}

I started to break down our bank account statement and went through and highlighted all transactions that I thought were not needed to try and see where we over spend.
Here are some places that we spend too much at:

1. Gas stations (for the quick 6 pack of beer, snack gatorade, etc.)
2. Full Belly Deli (Next to where I work)
3. Grocery stores (more than twice a week)
4. credit card payments, I mean they are getting kinda silly.

So, you now have an idea where we spend our money, not all of it, but the things I think I can really keep cautious about and try and cut. I'm putting our finances in order and going to be going through debt intervention with our accounts.

Step 1: Cut up credit cards, if you don't have access to them you can't use them right.
When they are paid down then we can order new ones, maybe considering letting some of them go.
(I know, letting credit cards go, even a couple, I know I'm crazy)

Step 2: Make grocery lists and stick to the list and meal planning. It will help going to the grocery store once a week and not 2 or 3 times. Avoiding things not needed in the store, the extra's. Try cutting them out for awhile and see how it goes.

Step 3: Made a strict plan of credit card payments for the next 6 months. By, trying to to save at the grocery store and other spending, I will apply that extra money towards extra on credit card's and open a saving's account. I don't have a saving's account, and I want to start one.

Why is debt so easy to get into and not as easy to get out of. I love my credit cards and my freedom to spend on them, but there comes a point where the fun stops and you realize how out of control you have become.

How do you Save?

How have you overcome your credit card debts or debts in general?

I would love to know how you all budget and what worked and didn't work.

Happy Tuesday!

A little about me, Kristina (Mack to My Cheese)

I'm a full time working mom to a almost 2 year old this week. I've been blogging since May 2010. I've really enjoyed it thus far, and there are so many great mom's that I've met to far and would love to meet more. It's nice to read other's blog's for idea's or just feel better knowing that we all go through the same day to day stuff and we are just all Moms! In addition, to being a stay at home mom, I'm also in school full time and trying to finish up my 4 year degree. Someday I will have it completed. I'm currently not married, but planning to be some day. It may take 10 years from now, but that is ok with me. We aren't in rush, and honestly the legality of it wouldn't change my current life I would just be married and that's the only difference. You can join up with me for Meal Plan Monday's, Thankful Thursday's and Fat Friday's.

Do you tweet or Facebook a lot. Follow me or "Like" me! I will follow back or "Like" back.

A Letter to Ian

Ian,

When we met a little over 4 years ago, I would have never thought we would be where we are today. It was December some time and you sent me a Myspace comment saying Hi, Blah, Blah! I don't remember responding back, but waiting it out. Then I returned from Seattle for Christmas and a couple of days went by. One night you instant messaged me and I remember thinking great an internet creep and turns out we knew some mutual people. A couple of weeks went by and I got a phone call from you during the most hectic nights of when my aunt was in the hospital. A couple of weeks went by and we went on our first date. Our first date was January 12th, 2006 right before my 19th birthday. I learned how to drive 40 MPH up snowy driveways in Tahoe Donner. You showed me lots of Truckee and I didn't know.

This was our first picture together. haha!

By April 2006, we moved in together to Reno. This year we had a lot of fun. You took me to my first Tool concert, I went to the Washington Rock Slides for the first time. You introduced me to Autumn and Tyson, I didn't know it then, but Autumn and I would become really good friends. We lived in Reno for a year and made the commute to Truckee everyday. I'm sorry, but I made you move. (little did you know it would be several times after that). We made the move to Truckee in May 2007 to Glenshire. It was good to be living back in Truckee and making short minutes commute to work. I went on my first booze cruise with you that summer despite my fear of rivers and I had a lot of fun.

August 2007, things started to get a little weird and I was scared, and frightened of the commitments we had. I started to pull away, and become distant and non communicative with you. I decided that I wanted to move out. I moved out by the end of the August with a friend in Kings Beach. Little did I know what I was actually doing or what the repercussions on my decisions were. After a couple of weeks I reached back out to you and decided that I didn't want you out of my life. Even though, we were separated for a few weeks I knew that I wanted to be back to the way things were. I broke my own heart, and left you to be with someone else. After I composed a letter to you and broke it up into 14 text messages. I got one reply from you I agree and feel the same. (After 14 texts I still only get 4 words from you). You aren't a texter at all. We hung out on and off for the month of September of 2007 and decided to go on a trip to the California Coast in October.

We had a great time in Morro Bay, Cayucos, San Luis Obispo Big Sur. I've never been to the California Coast and you showed me all of your favorite spots. Wine on the beach, driving through the trees and telling me inbred people are going to get me. It was dark and I remember watching the hills have eyes recently before the trip and thought they were in the trees.

Us in Morro Bay

November 2007, we learned the biggest news of our lives that I was pregnant and we were going to be having a baby in July 2008. We moved back in together by December and spent the next 9 months preparing for baby's arrival.

July 25th, 2008 Mackenna Jane Wright was born @ 4:33am and weighed 9lbs and 21 1/2 inches. You may have almost fainted twice during the epidural and the start of Mackenna's arrival, but you made it. After a long 23 hours of labor, we finally had Mackenna. You got to hold Mackenna first and then me. It was the craziest and longest day of our lives.

The first year was fun as we discovered to be parents and learned along the way. We got into some arguments and were stressed and tired but we made it through. I went back to school when Mackenna was 6 months old on top of back to work full time when Mackenna was 3 months old. You were a help with Mackenna and taking care of the homestead while I was in school. It was tough going back to school and waking in the middle of the night for Mackenna's feeding. We traded off and nights and it seemed to work.

Before we knew it was Mackenna's 1st Birthday. We invited all of our friends and family and had a great time at our house. We went to Toys R Us to go shopping for her birthday and went crazy. You even had a lot of fun picking out stuff.

Now, another year has passed since her 1st birthday and our little girl will be 2 years old this month. You are a great daddy to her and I love you so much. It has been a fun and exciting 4 years with you and I can't wait to see what our future is like. (I'm sure our parents would be like us to be married someday ha! )

Help! Any Ideas for a 2 year old's Birthday?

Sorry, I didn't get around to posting yesterday. I've been real busy at work, so therefore I just didn't have the time to post my meal plan. Anyway's, Mackenna's 2nd birthday is coming up in a couple of weeks and I'm hung on the fence on what to buy her. Kitchen, Train Table with Tracks and Trains or a Art Easel. Or Toy Story toys, because we are so in to Toy Story right now. It's crazy.

Here are some visuals on my idea's

Also, I've been looking at some kitchen's, but there are so many and I can't really decide on one.

This one is made by Melissa and Doug

This one is made by Kid Kraft

This one is also made by KidKraft

Please take vote and give me your idea's on what kitchen you like the best or maybe you have one of these and you can tell me if you like it. Also, what do you think about the train table idea? Yay or Nay? Please let me know.

Also, What are some things that you have gotten your two year old for their birthday and they really love. I live in Lake Tahoe, CA and looking for more indoor activities, since our summer's are really short and winters are long and cold with lot's of snow.

Thanks for all of your ideas!

Evil Step-mothers, or are they?

After my parents separation when I was about 5 years old, my dad starting seeing my step-mom Tina. During my mom and dad's separation my dad moved to my grandpa's up the street, and we lived with my mom for awhile. After what seemed forever the divorce seemed final and my sister and I went to stay with my dad and Tina every other weekend.

Tina was like a second mom for me. She always treated us as if we were here own. This doesn't sound like a evil step mom does it? Tina was a never a evil step mom, she loved and cared for us like any other child. Tina was in our lives for quite some time from 5 to the start of junior high. My dad and her decided to live in different places for awhile around when I was in 7th grade.

We did so much together with our step mom growing up in those years. She got us really going into sports, soccer, baseball, and basketball. We did a lot of camping and outdoors adventures. One story I remember the most. Oh man there are a couple. I will just tell you a couple of quick ones.

Ocean Shores:
We went to ocean shores, Washington to go camping and such and I went out to Tina's car to get some games
and bring them inside and then it was soon discovered that I locked the keys in the car in the middle of
know where.

Mountains and River:
I was probably around 9 or 10 and we went camping around Mt. Rainer in Washington and
we went down to the river one day, because I remember it being a pretty nice day. This was no
calm river and I remember it being raging. I decided to swing on a dead branch over the river and....
SNAP! There I went plunging into the river. Tina jumped in and save me and made me go back into the water right after.

Several time outs, melted crayons on her back seat, fights with my sister Tina wasn't the normal evil stepmom
we did lots together. I thankful for Tina in my life.

Sorry about this photo Tina! :)

Hope everyone had a good week this week. It was nice to have only a 4 day work week because of the holiday. Well drum roll please.....

I'm down 10lbs!!

Like i said I've been using Isagenix for the last 3 weeks and being very strict with two shakes a day for breakfast and Lunch. At dinner, I have around 200-300 calories. Yes, that isn't much, but I told you I'm being very strict. Post baby body here I come right!?!

Anyone else want to join in with me on my Fat Friday's? Or anyone else doing any kind of weight loss or just
plain out just want to be healthy?

Health Tip: refined sugars are hard for your body to processs and break down, that's why
sugar turns into fat storage. If you need a sweet to help you along your way try eating natural sugar items. Such as agave nectar, natural honey, or just natural unbleached sugar.

Chocolate Chip Recipe using Agave Nectar, no bleached sugar.

Things You'll Need:

1 and 1/2 cup Agave Nectar

3 Cups Organic White Flour
1/2 cup Organic butter (1 stick)
2 Organic Eggs
1 tso. Vanilla Extract
1/4 tsp. Sale
1 tsp Baking Soda
1 tsp Baking Powder
1 Pksg. Organic Chocolate Chips

Side Note from me: I'm a organic freak so I use all organic products. You don't have
to, you can just use the agave nectar, but I must say using organic eggs makes the cookies taste
so much better :)

Directions:
1. Preheat the oven to 375. In a large mixing bowl, combine butter with Agave and mix well with a hand mixer. When combined, add in the eggs, one at a time. Add in the vanilla and mix well.

2. In the same bowl, mix in the baking soda, baking flour, and salt with your hand mixture. Add in the flour, one cup at a time, and mix well. Stir in the chocolate chips until combined.

3. With a cookie scoop or a tablespoon, scoop out the cookies onto a cookie sheet, leaving them about 2 inches apart in all directions. Bake until golden, about 10-12 minutes.

My Pop's is coming to Town

My daughter Mackenna's 2nd birthday day is on the 25th of July. We decided to have her birthday on July 31st instead. (Works out better for family). So, I asked my Dad if he would come down from Seattle, Washington to our place of residence in Lake Tahoe, CA. Recently my Dad just bought his ticket last week. So excited that he is coming and get's to be here for Mackenna's 2nd birthday party.

The Party!

I believe I've finally decided on a confirmed theme for Mackenna's birthday party. It's going to be Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.
A cake I like, and would like to be attempted.

If you have a 1-3 year old, I'm sure this is a favorite in your house as well. We did Sesame street for her 1st birthday party. Here is a photo of the cupcakes and cake I made her last year.

This year it's going to be all about Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and his friends. I'm super excited and almost done making the invitations for her party. I will post photos of the invitations for tomorrow's post, so you can see them.

I'm so Thankful that my dad is going to be here for Mackenna's Birthday and I took an extra two days off to hang with my Pop's. Hope he doesn't melt in the hot sun.

What are you Thankful this week.

Blog Award and Who's Ian that I speak of?

Yesterday I received another blog award from the lipglossd mom.

I received the sunshine award.

This Wednesday I decided that I post so many photos of Mackenna and of me but, never really enough of Mackenna and Ian. Ian is Mackenna's daddy and my other half. We met 4 1/2 years ago in January 2006.  I was a little young one about to turn 19 and Ian was turning 23. Our brithday's are 2 weeks apart, but we are different signs. Ian has always been a hardworking and caring person. I've made him move 4 to 5 times in the last 4 years. He isn't so much of a fan of the moving part. We were living our young life partying, more Ian than me, and doing what younger couples do without children. Later Mackenna came to our surprise and I found out I was pregnant in November 2008. We have been experiencing the new parent life together for the last 2 years. I'm not going to lie it's been tough, there have been arguments, a day without speaking to each other, you know the normal new parent struggles. Being tired and with emotions don't mix to well. Here we are today and Mackenna will be two this month. Ian has been a great daddy and  loves Mackenna.

Mackenna and Dadddy, love you guys!

The firework show at Donner Lake was another good one this year.

Fat Friday.. Progress Report

Progress Report..

So I've finally approved Fat Friday #4. I've been going strong for the last 2 weeks since I talked about the father daughter weight loss challenge. Well today marks day # 14 of the weight loss challenge and I'm down 10lbs.

Hooray!

I've been on this product called Isagenix.

You will get great results. I started Isagenix in January 2010. I lost 13 lbs and 14 inches off my body in just 13 days. My aunt who did a 60 day cleanse lost 14 lbs and 18 inches in the first 2 weeks of the product and is about to order her 2nd 30 day cleanse to reach her health goal of 30lbs. My friend gabe, and fellow mentor for the product, got down to his high school weight in 9 days and his mom down to her lowest weight since she was pregnant 20 years ago with her first child in just 9 days.
If you are ready to obtain you desired health goal and or restore your natural energy, please contact me either by email or phone. Also, I would like to get you in contact with a cleanse coach. His name is Gabe Gannam and he will make sure that you are set up for success. What is your contact phone number? What is the best times of the day for you so he can call and go over packages and products and make sure that you are know all there is needed to know about the products?

Lastly, this is Susan Sly's site, who is a cleanse coach that I am working with directly. She's a wife and mother of 4, who makes 1.2 Million a year in Isagenix. She has written 5 books, been feautured on television and numerous publications internationally and trained on stage with people like the late Jim Rohn. She and her husband are involved in numerous charities throughout Africa and Asia. Check out the interview from ABC on her website. She has an amazing story and is one of the most selfless and genuine people I have ever met.

The Cancer Fight... Thankful Thursday

Back in November 2009, my mom found out that she had cervical cancer and a tumor in her uterus. She went in for her yearly exam (you know the awesome girly doc) and the Dr. could tell there was instantly something wrong and could see the tumor. It was pretty upsetting for my mom for this was the 2nd time she has had cancer. She was exactly around her 5th birthday in November 2009, from the first time she was told she had a cancerous brain tumor in October 2004.

Back in 2003, I was a junior in high school. Back then my mom was horrible and telling me if anything was wrong with her. She never wanted to worry my sister and I. Although, I remember the day when I was told that my mom would have 3 or so months to live. Super harsh and sad right!?! Well this is exactly what the doctor's told my mom in Seattle, Washington @ harbor view hospital. I will never forget how I felt. My mom is going to die. I also, felt a huge responsibility coming on my shoulders of caring for and looking after my brother. I was the oldest and it was my job. My mom then learned that where the brain tumor was located it was not operational. It was located in spot in her brian that could leave my mom a vegetable. When all hope was lost the Dr. mentioned a treatment called Gama Knife Radiation. Where they do several rays of radiation on your head hitting the tumor at all angles with a halo bolted to your head. This seemed pretty scary and ummm i dunno it would hurt :) My mom ended doing the treatment and she had multiple seizures and other motor skill problems over the last 5 years since her treatment. Since that day, it has been 5 years and no my mom didn't die in 3 months.

Just when something so amazing like my mom beating cancer the first time 5 years ago I go another call a little over 6 months ago that my mom has cervical cancer and a tumor in her uterus. Oh, boy here we go again. This time around was so much more different. I was way more sad and frightened because it was the second time and you think there is no way this battle can be won again.

The Dr's told my mom at one point that she can have surgery and have a hysterectomy and everything will be removed. Doesn't sound that bad huh! However, due to my mom's stage in the cancer and the tumor if they where to remove everything and leave on cell behind they would not be able to go back in and get it. Kinda scarey. The Dr. told my mom that chemo and radiation had the same success rate as the surgery. So after 2 or so months my mom started chemo and radiation for the next 9 weeks or so. She would do Chemo one day of the week and radiation the same week on a different day. After, 9 weeks she did a few weeks of internal radiation and this was suppose to finish the job.

It's been around 2 months since her last radiation treatment and it's still yet to be known if the cancer cells are completely gone.  However, the tumor has dramatically decreased in size. Whenever I learn that my friends know of someone that has had cancer or lost a battle to cancer I know how they feel. It is a scary ride and its so unpredictable and things can change and progress so fast. I've lost an uncle so far to pancreatic cancer in the last year or so. We weren't that close by any means, but its still tough to see a family member go so suddenly and quickly. My mom has gotten a 3rd chance at life with beating cancer the 2nd time.

I'm Thankful My Mom is Still Alive.
